Netflix and Bills
Kevin Hart, the Eddie Murphy of our time, has been breaking out the drama for ya’ mama these days. In this series based on his life, as a superstar comedian going through the motions of celebrity ups and downs. Well, technically the events that take place aren't rumored to be his reality other than his portrayal as a high profile entertainer and devote family man. Whether you take Kev serious or not in these kinds of roles, one thing you can believe is he had his fair share of trials and tribulations. Thus creating a relatable role we all can see him in comfortably.
Furthermore, I won’t spill any spoilers entirely but I can say the supporting actors are pretty legit. Wesley Snipes is playing his somewhat good-hearted older brother who has yet to push the envelope on his own potential. Oh and Billy Zane is playing a bad guy! Well, he was a bad guy..dun Dunn dunnn! Not too mention Lauren London and William Catlett (Black Lightning, Love is) made their impactful imprint in all the chaos that arises in “True Story”.
Guess what else!? Harts portrayed character KILLS SOMEONE! Sound the alarm but that scene was by far the darkest of his acting career, in my opinion. I forewarned you, I said I wouldn’t spoil it ENTIRELY. I didn’t say who he took out and why. (hehe) Nonetheless, I recommend for all you thriller lovers to check it out as this is probably the closest many of you will get inside the celebrity lifestyle. Thats not a shot, you hate your job and you know it. All jokes aside, I’m happy to see Netflix provide more than just re-runs of old classics, movies and tv shows. This is a good watch!
Netflix has been tapping into their creative yet spooky side of their brains lately. I stumbled upon this odd series called “Hellbound” while searching for something fresh to catch my eye. You ever find yourself three episodes in on a show you had no business watching but the trailer reeled you in as you read what it was about. Genius move by the way, Netflix, you got me! At first, I thought it was a real-life version of some anime themed storyline. Boy, was I wrong!
Three beings are being sent from another dimension to send people to hell. If only you could see my face as I write this because I’m spurking at how they do it. Each individual have “sinned” in some way and an “angel” appears to reveal how long they have to live. Once their time is up, three golem like creatures run through a portal wherever their target is and begins to chase them down like they’re back due on their taxes. Obviously, these beings catch them and what they do next is comical..in a sinister way.
They begin to beat the living sh** out of that person! Now I can see how that’s not funny to everyone but not all people have my sense of humor, unfortunately. Let me paint the picture, Have you ever been jumped? Thats literally what its like. Too dark still? I give up, if you got the guts go watch the trailer, at least. I digress. (again) Once their done with mobbing the victim, they suck their victims souls out with their hands releasing unbearable heat frying their victims in the process. In broad daylight or in front of the victims family, they get the job done…and BOUNCE. The actors are pretty good and the storyline is unexpectedly mind bottling. Watch it, don’t be a chicken!
I must say before I watched this Netflix Film, I received positive feedback from a few individuals who has trustworthy taste in shows. However, I was still reluctant to take part as cowboy movies never intrigued me. Even more so that just because I am of African deceit doesn’t mean I’ll blindly watch African American based films, just cus’. I like what I like, I don’t see color. (haha, always wanted to say that) Regardless,” The Harder They Fall” was DOPE! With so many recognizable actors and actresses, it was well balanced and action packed.
Idris Elba! Regina King! Lakeith Stanfield! Not too mention freshly trendy actors like Jonathon Majors, Zazie Beetz, and RJ Cyler simply killed it. Even renowned comedians Deon Cole and Damon Wayans Jr. got in on all the bullet flying, trigger happy scenes that kept me nodding my head with approval. How can I forget the acting OG, Delroy Lindo, who plays a no nonsense Marshall of the law. Now if you don’t know any of these great names then its probably because you live in Utah or Idaho. Don’t sleep on this one folks, its legit.
In closing, I must mention that Elba and his gang lead by Regina is something I wasn’t expecting. Majors character and his ambitious gang is out to take down their rivals lead by what is at first revealed to be revenge. The standoff between them was the cherry on top and it doesn’t end how you’re accustomed to in these kinds of films. Ok, I’ll throw you a bone. These guys (below) have more in common than one of these two realizes. As you can tell one of them looks more overwhelmed than the other. WHAT A TWIST!
