The Return of Rocket League Championship Series Lan!!

Finally! After almost a 2 year break from the Last Lan competition, Psyonix has announced that RLCS has gone back to its origins and announced the LAN Fall Major will be played once again and the location has been decided; Stockholm, Sweden!

So what is the RLCS LAN Major? It’s the collection of 16 of the best teams around the world that had battled it out in the premenlimeries to be able to compete in this major tournament that will once and for all decide who is the best of the best.

To some its not big deal, just a weird tournament that has nothing to do with physical prowess like major sports, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. This tournament means everything to those who participate in it, especially the teams representing North America and Europe. To win it would mean bragging rights for the whole year until the next tournament is held the following Fall in to winter.

Ever since the first ever tournament was held, North America and Europe have battled it out in the Finals for Gaming Superiority in Rocket League. Of course there is other countries that have teams representing them but almost always these two Goliaths stood at the top battling it out to bring home the championship trophy to their respective home and team.

This isn’t the only thing that they winner takes home, there is also the prize pool of $300,000.00 that the winner also gets as proof of their hardwork and determination that helped them propel to being the best of the best. How the tournament works is fairly simple, all 16 teams are divided in 4 groups and must win their match up in a best of 7 series to advance to the next match and round, meaning the 1st round is all 16 teams battling it out until 8 remain and then they move on to the next round.

Simple right? Don’t count on it, this tournament consists of the best Pro players Rocket League has to offer such as Garret G, Jstn, Squishy, Turbopulsa, Kaydop, Scrubkilla, Fairypeak, Atomic, and many more. They along their respective teams have gone through grueling gauntlets, matches to qualify, skrims amongst each other and countless hours of practice just to be able to compete. Although there is a plus side to all that hardwork for instance scouting for potential new team members that might fit in with a specific team or ORG that didn’ fit in with their previous teams for specific reasons or one final ride for those pro players who have decided this will be their last pro-tournament they ever play in.

This is the pinnacle for these 16 teams and the pro players, only one can stand atop the rest and be dubbed the Kings of RL. But just cause the others were eliminated doesn’t mean its the end. In this tournament if your eliminated in the 2nd round, you still have a chance to compete in the finals thanks to the losers bracket, but the same holds true for the others as well and not to mention its a long climb to reach the top so its not recommended to try this but it has been accomplished in previous tourneys but it’s very rare for it to happen. Once the final 2 teams have been decided, they duke it out in potentially 3 series of best of 7 games where they need to win 2 series before they are dubbed champions. So join me as I watch this moment in RLCS history where a new champion is dubbed.
