Midseason Blues

What does Denver Broncos Teddy Bridgewater have in common with current Quarterbacks of the Carolina Panthers (5-7) Sam Darnold and Cam Newton? Well, lets just say their all on the Panthers payroll. Yes, Teddy is still getting paid by his former team as part of a trade agreement last off-season. Darnold was supposed to replace Bridgewater after his one year stint with the team in 2020 but now he his paying the piper due to poor play and injury. Funny enough, Bridgewater was pre-destined to take over for Cam after he was let go like a washed up vet who he clearly wasn’t. OR..was he?

“Mr. I’m Back!” put up a great outing in his first start returning to the squad against the Washington Football Team just two weeks ago. Unfortunately, they still took home the L. Now after an ugly loss to the Miami Dolphins, the season is more confusing than the ending of Titanic. Seriously, why did old Rose throw that diamond necklace into the cold sea like that? I digress. What the Panthers do know is Newton is their best option to win so don’t give up on Cam just yet, it’s only mid season.

Oh yeah, superstar running back Christian McCraffrey is reportedly out for the season. Ouch!

Quarterback Kirk Cousins is by far having the best season of his career. The Minnesota Vikings, however, are sitting 5-6 after a devastating loss to the San Fransisco 49ers. It’s hard to fathom after the Vikings upset Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers a week prior in a prime time NFC North battle. Everyone knows Head Coach Mike Zimmer is a distinguished leader but if the Vikings miss the playoffs this year, there will probably be major changes afoot.

Keep in mind that Cousins has one more year on his guaranteed 80 mil deal so they may wait out til the end of his contract. There’s even a chance Rodgers leaves the division after this season creating a vacant seat for the Iron Throne. There is no way Kirk pass on that opportunity like Jon Snow did, as the Packers will not be the same when their “Tywin Lannister” departs. (Seriously if you don’t know Game of Thrones, it’s probably because you hate fun things).

Bad news is starting running back Dalvin Cook will be out with a shoulder injury for some time. So far this season, the former Michigan State Quarterback has proven to keep games close against playoff bound competition. Coach Zimmer, a defensive minded coach, has to stiffen up his defense or he’ll be sent to live with the wildlings after this season. (anotha’ one!)

I don’t know what is in Head Coach Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks recipe to win games but Quarterback Russell Wilson hasn’t been cookin’ all season. Russ is the centerfold of their entire operation but after a close Monday Night loss to the Washington Football Team speculation looms how long that will last. Get ready for a distasteful off-season ahead for this organization. Granite, the offensive line continued to struggle this season and key injuries spoiled many meals as fans lost their appetite watching their once promising team lose to the once bootlickers of the league.

However, Coach Carroll may be the odd man out the door as the Hawks will probably be a better team under new leadership due to the fact Wilson is still by far a Top 5 Quarterback in the National Football League. So there is a chance Russ does not take his “goodies” to another team. (Its a Ciara song reference, you uncultured swine!)

Nonetheless, the season is halfway over and at a current record of 3-7, this team is bound to fold like a plastic plate on thanksgiving day or come back for seconds in what would be one of the greatest in-season resurgences. If anybody can do it, it’s #3.
