UFC Vegas 25

What did we learn from the outcomes of the main and co main event fights at UFC Vegas fight night? Well for starters a star was born in Jiri Prochazka, only his second fight in the UFC and both ending in TKO/KO. Before the fight Dana White had announced the winner would be getting a title shot against Jan Blachowicz, but of course Jan is expected to meet Glover Teixeira next. We’ve never witnessed a fighter get a title shot after only two fights in the organization. Jiri waited years before making the transition into the UFC, he spent several years in RIZIN, and the wait seems to be paying off.

In this fight against Dominick Reyes he applied the pressure and kept him on his toes, but props to Reyes for hanging in there and rocking Jiri twice in the fight. Jiri was wobbled in the second round and one point Reyes had him in a choke hold that looked to be tight. Jiri got the KO/TKO win with a spinning elbow in the second. Jiri took home an extra 100k for “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the night”.

In the co main event you had Giga Chikadze going up against the veteran Cub Swanson. Giga was going into the fight on a four fight win streak, with his last being a TKO victory. Swanson was coming into the fight off a KO victory over Daniel Pineda at UFC 256. Giga took home the impressive TKO victory over Swanson with a perfectly timed liver kick. After the fight Giga named three fighters he’d want next, first one being Max Holloway and if that weren’t to happen he would like Calvin Kattar. Later that night he said a fight against Yair Rodriguez makes sense, it would be a real ninja fight. Yair did come out and say he would like a fight, since Giga didn’t take much damage, a fight against Yair would be explosive.
