2021 Heisman Winner is..

Quarterbacks win again as Alabama’s Bryce Young proudly took stage as the 2021 Heisman Trophy Winner. Dominating the votes and total points, Young beats his top competition yet in Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson, Pittburgh’s Kenny Pickett, and CJ Stroud from The Ohio State University. This prestigious award makes Young the first QB to win in Alabama history.

Bryce received 83% of total possible points, 7th most all time. On his heels was Hutchinson, the monstrous defensive end who finished second in votes. Impressive for a player at his position, where he found himself up against premier signal callers. Many hoped that the Michigan man would have shock the world as the latest player from Ann Arbor to have his name sketched in history since Charles Woodson (1997). The Wolverines face the (3) Georgia Bulldogs Dec. 31 in the Orange Bowl.

Kenny Pickett and CJ Stroud rounded out at third and fourth, respectively, as they hold their heads up high after Heisman worthy seasons. Although they leave New York empty handed, both prepare for highly anticipated bowl games that should improve their NFL draft status. Kenny, who may sit out the Peach Bowl, is already solidified as a high draft pick in next years draft. Stroud, a confident freshman, will take on No.11 Utah in the Rose Bowl to end his season on a good note.

Bryce finished his regular season with 314-of-462 passing carving up defenses with 4,322 yards and 43 touchdowns. With just four interceptions through 12 games this season, the voters believed No.9 was the best choice amongst the top 4. Coach Nick Saban was attendance sitting eagerly to see his once highly touted recruit take home the gold. And..he did! Along with his parents, who spoke highly of his character, hard work, and his faith in God.

Alabama can soundly enjoy this one tonight. Tomorrow, all focus will be towards New Years Eve when the Crimson Tide take on (4) Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl. The race to the BCS Championship officially kicks off!
