LG calls it QUITS on its SmartPhones

LG (Life’s Good) will no longer develop smart phones, so you won’t see any new ones for the remainder of this year of 2021 and beyond. This means won't see phones like the rumored LG V70 ThinQ, LG G10 or LG Velvet 2, as the company is closing its entire mobile business unit. AS MCE has mentioned many times on its “hottest tech” segments, this also means the rollable/foldable phones will no longer become a reality as we have seen LG really become the dare taker in the tech world.

"strategic decision to exit the incredibly competitive mobile phone sector." LG comments…

LG’s focus will gear towards smart homes/devices, components for electric vehicle, robotics & artificial intelligence. You can still buy with confidence If you still own or plan on purchasing an LG phone as it will slowly continue to ease its business by the end of summer and will still guarantee its warranties.

Back in 2007, the year of the first iPhone went on sale LG was a top dog being top five behind Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. Back in the days of the popular slider phone the LG “Chocolate” & what about one of LG’s first full touch screen phones the LG “Vu” or one of its first smartphones on AT&T the LG “Incite”? Running on Windows Mobile 6.1 for a whopping $199.99 after those dreading two year contracts of course!

LG has struggles to compete within the market of Apple &Samsung therefore struggled to offer better prices on its products.

Although LG will be missed as the “risk taker” fashioned company to deliver revolutionary product, it still has other areas it can grow from, hopefully in the TV & Entertainment area (crossed fingers).
