SuperSmash Bros: Ultimate fans debating why Disney allowed Sora to be a playable character?
When SSBU announced that Sora from Kingdom of Hearts would be the final DLC character to be unlocked in the game, fans everywhere didn’t know how to react to the news and rightfully so.
When Game creator and director of SSB Masahiro Sakurai first created the franchise, he made it widely known that only characters originally from video games can participate in Smash, which is why Characters like Goku from DBZ weren’t given a second thought.
Which really begs the question to be asked: why was sora allowed and chosen to be the final DLC character for this iconic game? Yes he originally came from a game, but his many friends on the various quests he’s been on are not from games, most notably Donald and Goofy.
There’s also the fact Disney is very peculiar about how their brand is associated with and represented by since it has a reputation to uphold. So the idea of having Disney characters appear in SSBU has become the main focal point for discussion in their recent collaboration.
While many of us are still confused with the decision one thing is for certain, Sora is an excellent choice for the final DLC character in the game. How the partnership will form in the near future will be critical for any future endeavors that Super Smash Bros may have with other franchises. Who knows Goku may be in the mix!
