Matiss Kivlenieks

Matis Kivlenieks, goalie for the Colombus Blue Jackets has passed away Sunday night July 4th in an accident involving fireworks.

Kivlenieks 24, died from a fireworks mortar blast and chest trauma. It was first reported to have been a head injury, but later confirmed to have also been from chest trauma. After a full autopsy it was declared an accidental death.

Kivlenieks was remembered with a moment of silence before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night.
