Summer League battle between the first two picks taken in 2021 NBA Draft.

Summer League battle between the first two picks taken in 2021 NBA Draft.

When Jalen Green, Houston Rockets 2nd overall pick, come to play the Detroit Pistons; He will be public enemy number one. When asked during an interview about his desire to have been the #1 overall pick, he compared a big city with much to offer to “the G league bubble”.

“I wanted to be the No.1 overall pick, but as for the location, I didn’t want to be in Detroit” Green told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. Listen, Detroit isn’t for everybody. However, to compare it to a bubble is pretty ignorant considering the fact he only been to the city once during a Pre-draft visit. Try coming through Detroit during a Friday night or Saturday or even “Old School Sunday” nights! One thing about Detroit is that we embrace our own even newly drafted players from anywhere outside the “Dirty Glove”.

Even just being nineteen years old, Green “being a Piston” would grant him access almost anywhere in The Motor City. No doubt his talent is there averaging 20.3 points and above 50% shooting during summer league in Vegas but Cade Cunningham will clearly be the new God-son of Detroit. Little Caesars Arena will not be the same with rookie Cunningham embracing the fresh Motown swag rocking crispy Cartier frames, wood grain. When Green finally steps foot in that arena, expect no love. Cunningham, you’re good anywhere though, except ‘round the “Murder Mac”.

Nobody get love there, superstar.
