Oblique Kick

Should the Oblique Kick be made illegal in MMA? The last Oblique Kick coming this past Saturday night at UFC Vegas 36 with Khalil Rountree Jr getting a KO victory over Modestas Bukauskas, with a brutal shot to the knee, bending it the wrong way with a horrific visual for those who watched the fight live.

The Oblique Kick can be used to maintain distance between an opponent, but can seriously injure them. Jon Jones made the kick very known with his strategic way of using it.

Khalil Rountree took to Instagram to wish his opponent a speedy recovery. "I spoke with my opponent after the match and wished him a speedy recovery because he will come back stronger and better as all great fighters do."

Some UFC competitors blasted the move, which is regarded as one of the most controversial moves in the UFC, as "lame" and "shit."

Many think the kick should be made illegal for the possibility of it being career ending, but in the sport of mixed martial arts or fighting in general any kick or punch could be career ending, what needs to happen is a better method of defending the kick.
